So as the club polo team sweated away in a stuffy swimming pool in Penrith other club members basked in the warm sunshine while litter picking at the dock. All clean and tidy now for the start of our Friday evening sessions on 1st April.
Duddon canoe club polo team had a great day at a tournament organised by penrith canoe club in penrith pool.
Though this tournament was organised to encourage beginners to come along and have ago there were plenty of skilled players giving it there all... Duddon started of on a lose not putting any on the score board against lakeland, 1/0 Second game was picked up a little against Lancaster uni 6/1 With 1 Connor, 1 Shell, and 4 Scott ( but he never scored if he asks), moving on to penrith teams who had a few young ones/beginners who played well, penrith p = 1/3 Connor 1 Scott 2. Penrith q= 4/0 Duddon , penrith r= 0/1 ,, Scott 1 ( he never scored lol), the last game was penrith g= 0/4.. Connor 1, Lee 1 and yes Scott 2.. We came joint 1st but placed 2nd on goals All Duddon players played thier all never got any cards this time but a few warnings... harry , Connor and shell worked hard in defence with Trevor stopping plenty in goal, Harvey, Lee and Scott up in attack.. Well done all great team effort... Harry went on to do an extra game set up just for the beginners ( well done him I was shattered) he did well in defence and even managed to score two goals.. Big thank you to our support on the side lines your just as important, Julie, Gill, and Harry parents.. Canoe polo fancy ago come along.. no experience of kayaking needed.. Everyone set off to Tewitfield and were on the water by ten thirty ready for a gentle paddle up to the motorway bridge. Here we all stopped for lunch. Well it was gentle for some as John and Martha got in some flat water training ready for DCC's marathon in April. Thanks go to Sarah for organising the paddle.
It was quite calm on the water at the docks today but very cold. This didnt stop several youngsters from trying out kayaking and sup boarding for the first time. All enjoyed it with one young man taking an unfortunate dip in the water but nothing that a hot chocolate afterwards didnt take care of.
