2022.5.28 dcc malton & norton

I was sorry no one from DCC was able to see me get 1 st place in div 8 at the Malton & Norton Hasler on Sunday but it was a 250mile round trip! An entertaining event saw about 20% of participants have an early swim - most able to empty out and finish the race. A twisty route stating against a steady flow on the River Derwent was the problem, especially when having to cross the flow to avoid the many willow trees and race boats coming the opposite way. It was the usual well run event and it was good to catch up with paddlers not seen for 2 or 3 years.

Martha and John went to Bradford and Bingley canoe club on Saturday for their div 4 slalom. They were joined later by Scott for the wild water race. Martha won her event and was promoted to Div 3 - well done Martha

A great time was had by all who went on the family paddle today. We set off down the River Leven towards the Swan hotel turned and stopped so far for a chat and lunch. Beautiful day and we were treated to the steam train passing by. Thanks to Sarah for organising a great trip.
