What another successful day for DCC at the Ulverston Regeneration Canal Gala day. After setting up the kit needed for the day some DDC members had a quick club paddle up to the swing bridge and back again before knuckling down, along with other members, to give the many visitors to the gala a chance to paddle on the canal. Despite all the weed and lily pads big enough to land a plane on everyone who paddled today had a great time especially one gent who despite being a bit nervous was well supported by his children who made sure they hung on to him all the way round. Well done to all who took part in making some great summer holiday memories for alot of families. Through donations by visitors paddling on the day DCC raised £89.28 for the Ulverston Canal Regeneration group. Congratulations also to Colin and the group for organising the days events.

The Friday evening session was well attended so taking advantage of the warm weather and calm water one of the groups was led out to the bulls nose by "coach Nancy" who took Carol out with her for support. Fun was had by all who took part this evening with Nancy having to have a rest and a cuddle half way before continuing with the antics of the night. Great photos of the evenings fun by Carol and Fran.
These are pictures from just one of over 10 sessions held over the last few months, of Scouts, Guides and Cubs taking advantage of the great weather and coming down to the docks to have fun on the water for the evening. One session was even held at Ulverston canal by DCC coaches and the Cub leaders. Everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed learning new skills on and in the water. Thanks go to all who made it possible.
Today was the last of Carols Special School Canoe Club session of the summer. It was a bit breezy at the docks this evening but it didnt deter anyone from getting on the water and paddling up to Morrisons and back. The personal progress these young folk have made over the weeks is amazing. Its been great to watch them gain in confidence on and off the water as not only have their paddling skills improved but their social skills as well. Thanks go to all that have made this possible.
All who helped out today resisted the urge to get out the kayaks and go for a paddle on a perfectly calm dock. Instead everyone knuckled down and got on with cleaning, washing, sorting out, fixing things aswell as picking up rubbish and plastic along the shore line. Scott says that if everyone picked up three pieces of plastic and recycled it then it would make a great difference to the environment. As you can see alot of waste was collected and then later recycled on several trips to the tip by Carol which saw her load up her car with rubbish and so nobody missed out she invited several members to go with her on a DCC adventure to the local dump. This ultimately lead to the grand finale, as not wanting to miss a day out we formed a convoy behind Carol for one final trip to the recycling centre. Well done to all who worked so hard today and Carol for organising the Grand Tour.
The Friday session was well attended and so it was a busy night for all on and in the water. As well as the regular craft out on the dock the SUP boards have now become a regular edition to what is now available to members. In search of a partner in the art of synchronized SUP boarding Trevor found the ideal person in Emily. Their timing was perfect as was Frans in capturing the moment. Great fun was had by all this evening.
