Another great night was had by DCC members who took part in the annual Lantern Procession in Ulverston. This years parade was all about "Space" and the club chose to make "Dr Who" themed lanterns including daleks, K9 and the Tardis. Thanks go to all who helped.

Tonight after the normal Friday session the overall winners of the South lakes summer series were awarded their medals. This was followed by a buffet in the club house. It was great to see so many young members and older ones, being rewarded for the effort they've put in during the last few months. They have done themselves and the club proud. Well done. This is an ideal race for those that wish to start racing on white water as it is suitable for beginners and is aimed at having fun.
Couldnt have asked for a better end to the summer holidays than the final of the DCC South Lakes Summer Series set of four races. Could have asked for better weather though but it didnt deter anyone from having a great time. This race was well attended as most folk were home from holiday ready to send their children back to school the next week. There were no mishaps during the race and all passed the finishing line in their chosen boat. The intention of the DCC SLSS races is to encourage paddlers new to white water, to promote confindence in their abilities and to have fun in a safer environment.. This has been well demonstrated by all who took part in the series. Because of the rain only certificates of the afternoons race were given out.. The medals of the overall series winners were presented at the docks on Friday 8th after the normal club sesson which was then followed by a lovely buffet in the club house provided by all the members. Congratulations to all who took part. |
