2025.3.9 DCC FAMILY PADDLE

They had lovely weather for the Duddon canoe club family paddle on the Lancaster canal today. The Canal Turn swan was nowhere to be seen, Nancy got to play on the playground and they checked out the impact the damage to Kellet Lane Bridge would have on our upcoming race.
Sarah paddled the first half with Kyle and Nutmeg in the front of the K2. Meg was sitting in the way so Kyle couldn't do much paddling. Nancy sat in the front holding Meg whilst Sarah paddled the return leg. Sarah's dad showed an interest in getting in a kayak for the very first time so Sarah took the opportunity and took him for a leisurely short trip, hopefully the first of many as he seemed to enjoy his time on the water. The group paddled a full 10km in the end.
Nutmeg was tired but she was so good sitting in/on the kayak watching the world go by and got lots of attention from passers by. She's been a park running, paddling pup again this weekend.

Teigan, Martha and Michelle attended the ladies regional North west tournament 2nd out of 3 in cheadle, a great effort was put in by all 3 while teaming up with ladies from Penrith canoe club. 3rd tournament

Scott organised a DCC moving water training session on the Leven at Haverthwaite on Saturday. All had fun time which was captured by Julie.

2025.01.26 dcc coach development

Some of DCC coaches spent Saturday at YMCA to learn new skills and polish up on others, network with the other 50 participants and hear about Paddle UK developments from HQ staff. Thanks to Cumbria Canoeists for organising this very successful event.

2025.01.25 dcc polo tournament

Michelle Sanderson
3 members from Duddon Canoe Club, Teigan Harrison, Martha Bozic, and Michelle Sanderson joined 3 members from Penrith to make a joint Cumbrian Polo team,
at the first of 3 Womens Regional league tournaments at Cheadle on Saturday 25th/1/25
This was attended by teams from around the North West.
This was Martha's first time stepping up to come join the Cumbrian team, Martha did say she was nervous and wasn't sure what to expect, this didn't show as she mixed in with the team well and was pulling of some tricks that even shocked herself, although we never won any games this time we all worked extremely hard together and enjoyed a good time, our usual team captain Hillary wasn't available to play this tournament and guide us so Michelle was nominated as captain by the other players, who had the help from one of Penriths younger players, from the side Lucas, lucas also came along to be our referee,

2025.01.11 dcc paddling on ice

Paddling On Ice was filmed at the docks today by Sarah who captured the sights and sounds of DCC members trying to paddle through solid ice at Buccleuch dock. Afterwards every one piled into the brew cabin to get warmed up with a brew. Fun was had by all today

DCC family paddle from Brown Howe, across to Wild Cat Island for dinner and back again was well attended. Included was a trip up Crocodile creek in search of the elusive creature that lives there. Video's and pics by Carol

2024.11.23 dcc polo tournament

DCC polo team travelled to Penrith to compete today. They came home with a trophy. Well done to all.

DCC travelled to Backbarrow to practise their slalom skills on the Leven. It was bit cold but it didn't stop anyone having a great time on and for some, in the water.
