What is Wild Water Racing?
A few members have asked what WWR (Wild Water Racing) on the club events list is all about, so here is an outline. Paddlers race over a much shorter distance than flat water racing.
All races are held on rivers normally around grade 2 which means there is a couple of nice drops in there. Coupled with a couple of nice rocks to keep an eye on.
Paddlers race one at a time setting off at regular intervals and being timed on their descent.
Again it's a very inclusive sport with competitors as young as 5 having entered our races on their own and even younger tandem with their parents.
Boats for this events are normally general purpose kayaks/ canoes or specialist white water racing boats.
