A day, that was at times too hot in the organisers tent!!, saw a great turnout with paddlers from around the county, Scotland, Nottingham and Halifax. 30 finishers made for good competition in K1, K2, C1, C2 and OC1 and a variety of GP/slalom boats. Many paddlers tried different boats and some even had time for a gentle swim down Sands Rapid.( not accidentally but to cool down).
Thanks to the helpers, time keepers, starters and members of Carlisle CC who had cleared the undergrowth to aid access to the river. John

DCC's South Lakes Hasler was held at Borwick on Lancaster canal. It was well attended with paddlers traveling from all over to take part. A great day was had by all.
Today was the DCC Easter family paddle on Coniston starting from Brown Howe. Our group was one of several that decided to visit this morning as we joined several others who were swimming, SUP boarding and canoeing. The water was calm as we headed up to Crocodile Creek. Here Nancy tried her hand at a bit of wild water paddling and enjoyed it. We headed over to the island where we had an Easter egg hunt, courtesy of Carol the Easter bunny. A great time was had by all. Some members paddled down to Allan Tarn to finish off the day. We also witnessed the putting together of an origami kayak. Thanks go to all who made it a great day.
.Another great day on the water saw 9 DCC members joined by a hand full of others paddlers from around the country at the Lune wild water sprint race. A good water level gave some exciting action on ( and in) the water. Luca and James were great on their first race on this standard of water. Many thanks to the time keepers and helpers who made it happen.
The only 2 wild water swimmers were the 2 most experienced club coaches there!! Not a surprise to me- we did the first run safely then for the second run ‘pushed the envelope’ As many will remember me saying - failure is the stepping stone to success- Scott and I learned more from our swim than other who took it steady! That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it! John What a great exhibition of top class racing awaited us at the Brathay Classic Wildwater race. Paddlers from Duddon, Forth CC , Nottingham, Halifax, and West Cumbria CC gave use 30 finishers. WWR boats included many K1s 2xC1 and 6xC2 with 1 OC and 3 general kayaks.
Many thanks to those paddlers who came so far to join us and to the helpers who made it all possible. Hope to see even more Duddon paddlers on the Lune in 2 weeks. John https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjAuxuC Great day with Duddon Canoe club polo team at Kendal leisure centre. Won 2, lost 2, drew 1. Great efforts all round.
